Adjusting Fusion Extensions

Hair grows, and so extensions need to be readjusted so they’re closer to the scalp again. Here are some touch-up tips to help your clients get in and out of the salon faster. This three part series is all about getting those touch ups just right.

Fusion just might be the toughest method to retouch. But it’s still completely possible to update your client’s extensions and help her look wonderful.

Remove the keratin bonds with Babe’s Keratin Bond Remover. Dispense enough on that that the whole bond is covered, but you don’t have to use a lot. Let it rest for a few minutes.

The bonds might need help breaking off completely. Use the Hair Extension Tool to squeeze the bond and loosen it. Once it’s ready, you should be able to slide the bonds and strands out easily.

Never force the bonds. If they’re not sliding out easily, you might need to use more bond remover.

Wash and clarify your client’s hair before reapplying the extensions. Taking out all the extension strands at once is important because it gives your client’s hair a chance to relax for a few minutes. Wash and clean the hair before reinstalling for a fresh start.

Before using the rebonds, cut off most of the bond, leaving enough of the old bond to keep the hair together. Place the new rebond over the tip of the extension. When the bond is activated by the Melting Connector, it will fuse just like the first time.

Organize each extension strand upon removal so that you can reattach each strand in the same position as before. Set them out on a table and even label if you have to. The most important thing is to keep the strands organized. This will ensure that you will not have to reblend the extensions when they are reinstalled.
